Jacobs Ladder Antique Quilt
Item #3-1040 $399

Many inventions were made just after the
Civil War, but none were as welcome to the women of that time than the
sewing machine - such a timesaver!! This 1870's antique quilt is a
mixture of the old and new as the Jacobs Ladder blocks are
HAND PIECED
in many cotton scrap bag fabrics including Indigo and
Cadet blues, Turkey Red, Cranberry, and black & white mourning prints,
then cinnamon pink was machine sewn to form the sashing and borders.
This beautiful quilt measures 78" x 74", has a machine applied over dyed
green printed binding, and a blue and cream mini checked back.
HAND QUILTED with diamond quilting on the pieced blocks,
concentric arc and rope quilting on the sashing, and angle quilting on
the borders @ 8 neat and tiny stitches per inch. In UNUSED,
UNWASHED, CLEAN CONDITION, we found no rips, tears, stains
or odors, but the dyes used in the over dyed green printed binding have
started to split the binding at the fold line in several places - very
minor.
