Unusual Indigo & White Tied Patchwork Antique Quilt
Item #B-2301 $450
We've had thousands
of quilts over the years, but this Patchwork quilt is one of the more unusual
examples. The maker machine pieced a white stars on Indigo print and
a bright white cotton in a typical patchwork design with 2" squares, then added
a large X and 4 smaller X's using white fabric folded to 1/4" wide and machine
applied in the center of the quilt. Using a white floral print on Indigo
for the borders, she also machine applied 1/4" wide pieces on the border in
keeping with the theme, and added 9 patch corners using the star print and
white. The quilt measures 74" x 74", has a medium weight cotton batting, a
hand applied binding (with a few nips), and a tiny brown star on white for the
back. The quilt is tied with white cotton floss at the corner of each
piece and at each crossing on the border. PROFESSIONALLY HAND
LAUNDERED, we found no rips, tears, stains or odors.
CLEAN, GRAPHIC & VERY UNUSUAL!!

Indigo Bears Paw Antique Quilt w Saw Tooth Frame
Item #B-2256 SOLD!!
The maker of this 1880's quilt
combined 2 patterns, a Bears Paw and Stars, then HAND PIECED
them using many different cotton scrap bag Indigo prints for the bears paws and
scattered stars, and white cotton for the background (the star blocks have a
cream background). She even made a 2-1/4" wide frame and a Sawtooth frame!
The quilt measures 93" x 85", has a thin cotton batting with a few seed
fragments, a hand applied binding, and a white back. HAND QUILTED
with diamond quilting on the pieced blocks, feather quilting on the sashing, and
double angle quilting across the frames and border @ 9 to 10 neat and tiny
stitches per inch counting one side only. IN UNUSED, UNWASHED
condition, we found no rips, tears or odors, but a couple small storage
spots.
CLEAN & VERY GRAPHIC!!
Indigo Shnit Cut Fleur de Lis Antique Applique Quilt
Item #B-2071 $750
Remember making snowflakes in elementary school
by folding a piece of paper in fourths, then snipping a design? Well, that's
how this 1920's Schnit Cut Fleur de Lis pattern was made - VERY
FOLKY! The maker made 16 cotton blocks, HAND
APPLIQUING the Indigo blue printed Fleur de Lis cutouts to a
bright white background, surrounding each block with three 3/4" wide strips of
sashing, and using a running Fleur de Lis applique for the border. The quilt
measures 74" x 74", has a thin cotton batting, a machine applied binding, and a
bright white back. Minimally HAND QUILTED with
outline quilting around each applique and circle quilting in the centers @ 7 to
8 stitches per inch. PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED,
we found no rips, tears or odors, just a couple very light and tiny spots, a
couple fabric misprints on the Indigo sashing and some very light sun fading as
shown in the full view photo. VERY GRAPHIC, CLEAN & STILL CRISP!!

Indigo Ocean Waves Antique Quilt w/Arrow Borders
Item #B-2063 $1,299

On first look, this 1870's Ocean Waves quilt
looks like others from the same period, until you look at the folky
arrow borders! HAND PIECED, the maker used either a
tiny white dot on dark Indigo blue or a bright white cotton for the 1-3/4"
squares, with the Indigo fabric cut on angle for the arrow pieces, aligning the
dots to also make arrows! The hand applied binding is a different white dot on
Indigo print (less dots). Measuring a generous 90" x 90", it has a very thin
cotton batting with seed fragments and a white back. HAND QUILTED
with Chevron quilting across the pieces, small teacup or pumpkin
seed quilting on the white background, and triple angle quilting across the
borders @ 9 very neat and tiny stitches per inch counting just one side.
PROFESSIONALLY HAND LAUNDERED FOR THE FIRST TIME, we
found just one small dye misprint (1/4", circled in red in photos), and a couple
of Indigo pieces with fade, which could also be a dye misprint as fabric was
precious in those days and every scrap was used. All dye misprints are in the
same area of the quilt. A CLEAN, CRISP & GRAPHIC INDIGO QUILT!!
(Note: the photo of the arrow border has a shadow caused by a
falling leaf - it's not a hole or stain)

This Rolling Stones
quilt from the 1880's is HAND PIECED using all cotton

Indigo Blue and white printed binding, and an unbleached muslin back.
HAND QUILTED with outline quilting on the pieces, diamond
quilting on the background, and angle quilting on the frame and borders @ 9
stitches per inch. In UNUSED, UNWASHED CONDITION, with
light pencil quilting marks, we found no rips, tears or odors, but a couple
light and tiny storage spots. This quilt is STRIKING & CRISP!!!
